Hi! I am Laksmi Pamuntjak. I am an internationally-published, widely-translated Indonesian author with 14 books to my name. I am also an experienced editor and translator working across a wide field of genres, both in English and Indonesian. Everything I’ve done in life, as a writer, reader, translator, editor, publisher and bookseller, stems from my passion for language and text. Especially text that is accessible, precise and beautiful.

Like it or not, we live in a world of text. Captions in museum exhibitions. Business reports and press releases. Guide books that tell us where to go and what to do. Yet many of them don’t do justice to the content. They are either poorly written, poorly edited or poorly designed—often all three.

 

I set up LP Consulting because I believe in the power of good writing. Whatever field you’re in, you need good writing to get your ideas across. Often it can make all the difference. And I can help make your words clearer, stronger, beautiful.

 

I offer expert services in writing, editing and proofreading for books, company profiles, websites, reports, articles, press releases and text for cultural events. I also host book clubs for foreign expatriates who are keen to learn about Indonesian literature in translation. 

 

My experience with text has been deep and wide. In addition to publishing books of fiction and non-fiction, I have written extensively for both Indonesian and international publications including op-eds for the Guardian. I have done consulting work for an international art philanthropy organization and produced art performances for a prominent Southeast Asian museum. I have given talks in many international literary forums on four continents. I know a thing or two about food, having authored the Jakarta Good Food Guide many years ago. Let me help make your words shine.
